Parliament will be dissolved in October
Regardless of the results of the September referendum, the legislative body will be dissolved in October, Deputy Speaker Alexandr Stoianoglo said in a debate meeting themed “Constitutional Referendum: for and against”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Communist lawmaker Igor Dodon said the Opposition does not know what will happen after June 16 (when it is one year of the last dissolution of Parliament – e.n). During two months and a half, the Alliance for European Integration's position on the political crisis has changed radically several times. “We suggest dissolving the legislature. We are ready to reach a compromise with the Alliance so that the Constitution be modified in Parliament. We are waiting for the Alliance to take a step towards us,” Igor Dodon said.
Victor Selin, the leader of the Social Democratic Party that is not represented in Parliament, considers that if the people vote against direct election of the President in the referendum, the governing Alliance will make everything possible for the legislative body not to be dissolved.
Democrat MP Alexandr Stoianoglo said the Alliance for European Integration will keep the promise to organize early legislative elections. He stressed that no matter what the results of the referendum are, the Parliament will be dissolved in October. He added it is hard to reach a compromise with the Communists Party as the Opposition does not attend the parliamentary sittings.
