Parliament to support attraction of foreign donors to Gagauzia

Moldova’s Parliament will provide the assistance needed in attracting foreign donors to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. The donors’ assistance will help strengthen the regional capacities for participation in decision-making, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the legislative body, Igor Corman had a meeting with the chairman of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Dmitri Constantinov. The officials conferred on the socioeconomic and political situation in the region and pleaded for strengthening the dialogue between the central and local public authorities.

In the discussions, Igor Corman underlined the importance of active and constructive participation in the working group for analyzing the legislation on the status of Gagauzia, under the aegis of the Ministry of Justice. The fostering of the dialogue between Chisinau and Comrat will generate new development programs for Gagauzia and will positively influence the people’s living conditions.

The Speaker stressed the necessity of transferring experience to the deputies of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia so as to improve the quality of the legislative initiatives and to contribute to the uniform implementation of the legislation all over Moldova.
