Parliament to set up commission to investigate April 7 events

Speaker Mihai Ghimpu proposed creating a working group that would draft a decision to set up an inquiry commission that will investigate the April 7 events, Info-Prim Neo reports. The working group will consist of representatives of every parliamentary group: Valeriu Nemerenco (PL), Alexandru Stoianoglo, (PDM), Mihai Godea (PLDM), Ion Plesca (AMN) and Anatolie Zagorodnyi (PCRM). Minister of the Interior Victor Catan supported the idea of creating such a commission. He presented a report on the offenses committed on April 7. “Unfortunately, no person who participated in the organization of the protests or caused public disorder was held accountable. We saw only persons honored with orders and awarded,” Catan said. While in Brussels on a working visit, Prime Minister Vlad Filat asked the European organizations to delegate European experts to work as part of the given commission.
