Parliament to resume sittings next week

The spring session of the Parliament will start on February 8. The Parliament Standing Bureau approved a decision in this regard on Thursday, February 1. During the following session, the Parliament is to examine such issues as the appointment of Moldova’s Prosecutor General, designation of some judges in the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Justice. At the same time, the Legislative body will pay particular attention to the process of implementation of the adopted legislation in compliance with the engagements for the European Council and will operate a continual monitoring in this sense. Parliament will also analyse a series of bills concerning economic development and liberalisation, which is at its final stage of drafting at the moment. Among the priorities of the MPs for the following months are the debates on the Law on denationalisation and management of public property, and a set of drafts regarding the tax policy for 2008. At the same time, the MPs will examine a range of bills concerning the development of the financial sector and capital circulation, which are aiming at the creation of a mega-regulator of the financial market and the institutional reforming of the financial market administration. During the spring session, the Parliament will also have an important role in the process of implementing the second Guillotine Law. MPs will discus upon the legislation on local public finances. The spring session will finish in late July, when Parliament will recess the sittings again.
