Parliament to mark Europe Day

Parliament will celebrate Europe Day by a set of activities that will take place on May 13. The program starts at 9:30 with an exhibition entitled “Europe through children’s eyes” that will be mounted in the Parliament’s hall. The exhibition will contain drawings made by children from different settlements of Moldova. The best 12 drawings will be included in a Parliament’s calendar dedicated to Europe Day. The exhibition will be opened by Head of Parliament Andrian Candu and Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova PirkkaTapiola, IPN reports.

According to the legislature’s press service, at 10am Parliament will come together for a plenary sitting that will also be attended by ambassadors and representatives of international organizations working in Moldova. At the beginning of the meeting, festive speeches will be delivered on the occasion of Europe Day. There will be presented a video clip about the Moldovan people’s expectations of the EU.

“The European Union means a better future for all the people of the Republic of Moldova, while Europe Day is the holiday that represents unity and prosperity, freedom and democracy, diversity and equality. The Republic of Moldova must continue the European road and must become part of the European family,” stated Andrian Candu.

A light show will be staged at 9pm. The Parliament Building will be illuminated in the colors of the EU flag and of the tricolor.
