Parliament to examine simple motions against ministers Marinuta and Sandu

The legislative body in its July 10 sitting will debate the simple motions put forward by the Communist MPs against the ministers of defense and education. Before putting the motions to the vote, Vitalie Marinuta and Maia Sandu will be questioned in the plenary sitting.

Contacted by IPN, Victor Mocanu, senior consultant of the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities, said that a simple motion is passed by a majority of votes and expresses the legislature’s position on a certain matter. The two ministers can be yet dismissed by the head of state, at the suggestion of the Premier.

Communist MP Mark Tkachuk has told IPN that if the two motions do not garner the necessary number of votes, the Communists will focus on highlighting the defective policies pursued by the two ministers and the irregularities committed in the areas managed by them. The lawmaker considers that Maia Sandu and Vitalie Marinuta will anyway be discharged, if not today then in the near future.

The two simple motions were signed by 33 and, respectively, 31 Communist lawmakers. Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta is accused of illegally selling armament and of making belligerent statements that led to a deterioration in the relations with Tiraspol, while Minister of Education Maia Sandu is blamed for the failure of the educational policy promoted and the modest results in the Baccalaureate session this year.
