Parliament to debate 35 major bills during autumn session

The legislative body has 35 main bills for the autumn-winter session, 13 of which form part of the European commitments, Speaker Igor Corman said after the joint meeting of the Government and Parliament held on September 10, IPN reports.

The Head of Parliament said they agreed that the bills will be discussed by the commissions at meetings so that when the legislature holds its sittings there appear no ambiguities. “The fiscal policy and the 2014 budget are among the top priorities,” stated Igor Corman.

“The Government worked hard and proposed about 50 bills that were approved or are to be approved. What is important is to join efforts,” said Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.

The autumn session started on September 2. The Standing Bureau last week decided that the MPs will hold the first sitting on September 26. The Liberal and Communist MPs demand immediately convening Parliament so as to discuss the concession of the Chisinau International Airport and the lessening of the state-owned holding in Banca de Economii. The Standing Bureau will hold the next meeting on September 11.
