Sveatoslav Moldovan resigned from the post of judge of the Supreme Court of Justice and Parliament is to consider his resignation following a relevant decision taken by the commission for appointments and immunities, IPN reports.
Sveatoslav Moldovan is one of the judges who tried the “Gemeni” case in which Moldova was convicted by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). The Superior Council of Magistracy approved his resignation three weeks ago. In his application, the judge invoked health reasons.
In the same meeting, the commission for appointments and immunities approved changes to the Parliament’s Regulations by which an additional article to set up the sub-commission for exercising parliamentary control over the implementation of the ECHR judgments and the rulings of the Constitutional Court of Moldova is added.
The sub-commission will be headed by a representative of the parliamentary opposition.
