Parliament to consider 76 bills until year's end

In the light of the imminent early legislative elections, presumably to be held in November, the Government proposed to the Parliament a limited legislative agenda for this year instead of a program that would cover the period until 2013, as initially planned. Justice Minister Alexandru Tanase said that until the end of 2010 at least 76 bills would be developed and submitted to parliament for consideration, including legislation aimed to emulate the EU aquis as well as the ratification of two international treaties, Info-Prim Neo reports. Among the new pieces of legislation that are expected to be developed and adopted are: the Water Law; the Law on the responsibilities of central and local authorities in planning investments depending on their amount; the Law on the control of conformity of products of animal origin; the Law on Police and the Status of Policeman; the Law on the denationalization of public papers; the Conception of the development of the media market; and the Conception on the development of Moldova's broadcasting sector. Concerning the adoption of EU aquis principles, Parliament is to consider modifications to the laws on food safety, on plant protection and phytosanitary quarantine, on safety of hydrotechnical structures, etc. Parliament is also to ratify the Additional Protocol to the Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine, on the Prohibition of Cloning Human Beings; and the International Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage
