Parliament to celebrate 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations with U.S.

In the course of this year, the legislative body will stage a number of events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and the United States. The internal and bilateral Moldovan-American agenda was discussed in a meeting of Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu and U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D. Pettit, IPN reports, quoting the legislature’s press service.

“Our country was constantly supported by the American Government and people in its democratic transformations, in the implementation of structural and modernization reforms,” stated Andrian Candu.

James D. Pettit announced that the Embassy also prepares a series of activities on the occasion. “We are honored to have covered these 25 years together. We follow attentively the events in the Republic of Moldova and appreciate the good things done for the citizens and want Moldova to progress,” stated the U.S. diplomat.

The interlocutors also discussed subjects related to the legislative priorities of the spring session, the parliamentary agenda, the developments in the dialoged with the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and the Transnistrian region and the impact of initiated reforms.
