Candu said Moldova pledged to organize activities aimed at increasing public awareness of this problem. In this connection, he announced that at 4:30pm, the Parliament Building will be lit by orange illuminations as orange is the color that symbolizes support for this UN initiative.

Speaking on behalf of the common dialogued platform of women MPs, Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovich said that regrettably, violence against women is spread in our country, especially in the family. Consequently, the children and the young generation also become victims of violence.

“The common dialogue platform of women will continue to work to improve the legal framework so as to exclude this and other phenomena that discriminate against women,” stated the MP.

Liliana Palihovich called on all the women in Moldova not to hide the cases of violence against them.

Violence against women and girls is a problem of pandemic proportions. In every corner of the world, the damaging effect of violence against women hampers progress in many areas, representing an obstacle to eradicating poverty and maintaining peace and security in the world.
