Parliament should pass antidiscrimination law, IPP director

The director of the Public Policy Institute (IPP) Arcadie Barbarosie considers that the antidiscrimination law should be passed and the lawmakers should not yield to the pressure exerted by the priests, Info-Prim Neo reports. The statements were made during discussions on the Transnistrian conflict settlement process with journalists. “In order to find solutions to resolve the Transnistrian dispute, we must first of all establish an economic balance and ensure decent living conditions for the people. One of the ways is for the MPs to adopt the antidiscrimination law so that Moldova obtains the liberalized visa regime,” said Arcadie Barbarosie. Orthodox Church representatives protested against the phrase ‘sexual orientation’ included in the antidiscrimination law, saying it goes against the Christian values of the Moldovan people. The refined version of the antidiscrimination bill, renamed the Law on Equal Opportunities, was submitted to the competent institutions for approval.
