On the recommendation of the Supreme Security Council, Parliament has set up a special committee for looking into the inflation control decisions and monetary policy adopted over the past 18 months. The decision was adopted by 52 votes.
The Action and Solidarity Party will have four representatives on the committee: Dumitru Alaiba as chair, Adrian Băluțel as secretary, and Artur Mija and Marina Morozova as members. The Bloc of Communists and Socialists and the Shor Party haven’t delegated any members to the committee.
“The world economy is facing an unprecedented inflationary wave, and the countries of the world, including the Moldova, are fighting to contain it. Our society needs to know about the decisions made to this end, about how efficient and reasonable they have been”, said Dumitru Alaiba, who is also chair of the permanent Economy Committee.
The special committee will hear parties and individuals involved in inflation control and monetary policy decision-making processes, and is expected to present a report before Parliament within a month.
