Parliament session adjourned till tomorrow

The Parliament's meeting on Thursday ended without starting properly, after Speaker Mihai Ghimpu announced there was a lack of quorum – three deputies representing the United Moldova party had walked out to protest the failure of the ruling coalition to include a draft law they had proposed into the order of the day, Info-Prim Neo reports. After the three MPs – Vladimir Turcan, Ludmila Belcencova and Victor Stepaniuc – staged the walkout, there were only 51 deputies left in the assembly hall, one short of the number required for the meeting to proceed. A fourth member of the group, Svetlana Rusu, chose to remain at the meeting. “Had it been a draft proposed by the AIE, it would have been included; otherwise they would reject it”, frowned Vladimir Turcan after walking out, adding that he could miss tomorrow's congregation as well if their draft didn't make it to the agenda. Speaker Ghimpu said the Parliament's Regulations could be amended soon so as to establish a quorum of 51 deputies instead of 52.
