Parliament ratifies Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

Chisinau Parliament ratified on Thursday, November 16 in two readings the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. According to the Treaty, the signer-countries pledge not to carry out experimental explosions using nuclear weapons, or any other kind of nuclear explosions, to prohibit carrying out them in any zone that is under its jurisdiction or control. At the same time, the signers have to abstain from provoking, encouraging or participating in any way in carrying out any explosions using nuclear weapons. The National Regulatory Authority for Nuclear Activity and Ionized Radiation Source was tasked with implementing the Treaty’s provisions. The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty was signed in New York, on 10 September 1996. Moldova has signed this Treaty on 24 September 1997.
