The legislative body created a working group for drafting a statement in support of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU and the liberalization by the EU of the visa regime for Moldovans. The initiative was proposed by Speaker Igor Corman, IPN reports.
“The European integration is a fundamental priority of the internal and external policy of Moldova. The achievement of this objective, which represents the chance to build a modern European state, necessitates the plenary involvement of all the authorities and state institutions, the political forces and whole society,” said the Head of Parliament
The Communist MPs pleaded against the statement, saying the content of the agreement must be made public first. “We do not know the text of the agreement. We must know it in order to debate it to see if it is important or not, if it’s a prospect for Moldova,” said Grigore Petrenco. His colleague Artur Reshetnikov said it’s not Parliament, but the people who should decide the country’s course. “You pretend to be Europeans, but in reality you are bandits, robbers and criminals. We will not take part in this farce,” said Communist MP Eduard Musuc.
The working group will submit the draft statement to Parliament within 10 days. The group has six members. Initially, it was proposed that the group should have nine members, but the Communists refused to take part in the formation of the group. The PLDM is represented by Valeriu Ghiletski, Ghenadie Ciobanu and Maria Ciobanu, the PDM by Andrian Candu and Oleg Tulea, while the group of Liberal reformers by Ana Gutu.
