Parliament postpones tomorrow’s meeting to commemorate deportees

The Parliament’s meeting on July 6 was postponed because of the MPs’ participation in the actions of commemoration of the biggest wave of Stalinist deportations. The meeting was put off at the initiative of the Liberal group, Info-Prim Neo reports. Socialist parliamentarian Igor Dodon opposed the decisions, saying there were many bills that had to be examined before the summer recess. PCRM legislator Artur Resetnicov demanded that Parliament assembles on July 6 even without the Liberal Party. However, the Liberals’ proposal was endorsed by the majority. The first wave of deportations took place on June 12-13, 1941; the second on July 6-7, 1949; and the third on March 31-April 1, 1951.
