Parliament names new CEC member

Vitalie Modranga is the new member of the Central Election Commission (CEC). Parliament appointed him instead of Stefan Creanga, who tendered his resignation this January. Vitalie Modranga was put forward by the Liberal Democratic parliamentary group, IPN reports.

Under the legislation, eight members of the CEC are named by Parliament by observing the proportional representation of the parliamentary majority and the opposition. Stefan Creanga was proposed by the Liberal Democratic Party.

In the March 13 sitting of Parliament, Vitalie Modranga was sworn in. He will hold the post until the end of the current term of the CEC.
