Parliament must be dissolved after Constitution is amended, NGO
The idea of holding a constitutional referendum, made public by representatives of the ruling alliance, is nothing else, but a move aimed at destroying the existent laws and legal principles so as to rule as one wants, not as they should in a state of law, considers the Center for Public Authorities Monitoring and Initiatives, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the NGO says the intentions to selectively amend texts of the Constitution aim to gain advantages and cannot guarantee stability in the hierarchy of the legislative and executive powers.
The organization’s head Ion Dron said the MPs already failed to elect the head of state. According to the lawyer, the only solution to prevent the legislature from working illegally is to dissolve it after Article 78 of the Constitution is modified. The new norms must be put into practice by the future legislative body.
“Nothing can justify the violation of a law, while the flouting of the legislation by the authorities represents the start of chaos. The future Parliament can any time say that the future head of state was voted in illegally and the country may be again pushed into a political-legal crisis that will be more serious than the present one,” reads the communiqué.
On January 15, the leaders of the ruling alliance said a constitutional referendum to simplify the procedure for electing the President will be held in Moldova in April at the latest so as to unlock the political crisis and avoid early legislative elections. Presidential elections will be held after the results of the referendum are validated.
