Parliament meeting postponed

Parliament's meeting on Friday , October 16, has been postponed until Tuesday, October 20, Info-Prim Neo reports. The initiative came from Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who argued that some Cabinet members, who haven't yet vacated their seats in Parliament, should attend the meeting with the Swedish delegation, headed by Sweden's Foreign Minister Carl Bildt. The Swedish delegation is on a one-day visit to Chisinau “in the context of the intensifying dialogue between Moldova and the European Union”, and has the intention to “learn more about the government program of the new authorities”, it was said in a press statement from the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Carl Bildt will have meetings with Mihai Ghimpu, Speaker of Parliament and concurrently acting President; Serafim Urecheanu, Senior Deputy Speaker of Parliament; Prime Minister Vlad Filat; Iurie Leanca, Deputy Prime Minister and simultaneously Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration; and with the leaders of parliamentary parties. The discussions will address the priorities for the talks on the new association agreement, the initiation of talks on relaxing visa requirements and on an extended free trade agreement. Also on the agenda are discussions on a potential financial aid for Moldova to overcome the crisis.
