Throughout February, the month that marks two years since Russia started its war of aggression against Ukraine, the Moldovan Parliament is hosting an exhibition of children’s drawings. The exhibition includes about 200 drawings made by children from Moldova and Ukraine, from art schools and centers for refugees across the country.
The children’s artworks depict peace as they understand it. The drawings were made as part of the International Project titled “Peace Formula in the Art of Children”, initiated by the Ukrainian charity Lviv Children’s Gallery, with the support of the International Women’s Club of Moldova and the Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova.
“Who but children are the ones who can send us very sincerely, deeply, messages that we adults sometimes don’t notice? I am sure that one day very soon, we will all get back to what we want so much: peace, tranquility, prosperity, so that these children can live and become whatever they want to be”, said Speaker Igor Grosu during the inauguration event.
Olesea Shevchenko, the Ukrainian ambassador’s wife, declared: “I thank the Parliament for such a great invitation and the idea to continue the exhibition that we opened last December at the Museum of History and we can continue it here, where it is possible to talk and express our desire for peace and how the children see it”.
Ambassador Marko Shevchenko noted that the drawings are made in different techniques, with different colors, but they have a lot in common. “Ukraine has developed a political plan on how we can achieve peace, which is presented by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and it’s called the Peace Formula. I hope that this exhibition will make an important contribution to the world we are building”, said the diplomat.
