Parliament gives vote of confidence to new Government

The ruling alliance Friday gave a vote of confidence to the new Government after Prime Minister Vlad Filat presented the government program and the new members of the Cabinet and answered lawmakers' questions for about three hours and a half, Info-Prim Neo reports. Within the PLDM, Iurie Leanca, Alexandru Tanase and Veaceslav Negruta will keep their posts of Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Minister of Justice, and Minister of Finance respectively. The post of Minister of the Interior will be held by the head of the Border Guard Service, General Alexei Roibu. He replaced Victor Catan. Pro-rector of the Free International University of Moldova Mihai Shleahtitski, of the PLDM, is the new Minister of Education. In the previous government, the Ministry of Education was led by Leonid Bujor, of the AMN Liberal-Democrat MP Vasile Bumacov will head the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry instead of Valeriu Cosarciuc, of the AMN. The director of the National Clinical Hospital Adrian Usatyi, also of the PLDM, will lead the Ministry of Health instead of Vladimir Hotineanu. Within the PDM, Valeriu Lazar will continue to serve as Minister of the Economy, Marcel Raducanu as Minister of Regional Development and Constructions, Boris Focsa as Minister of Culture, while Valentina Buliga as Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family. The head of the tobacco company Tutun CTC Pavel Filip is the new Minister of Information and Communication Technology. He substituted Alexandru Oleinic, of the AMN. The Liberal Party kept four ministers of the previous Government. Ion Cebanu remained Minister of Youth, Vitalie Marinuta – Minister of Defense, Gheorghe Salaru - Minister of the Environment, while Anatol Salaru – Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure. Diplomat Eugen Carpov replaced Victor Osipov, of the AMN, as Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration. Mihai Moldovanu will serve as Deputy Prime Minister for Social Matters. The Government also includes the ex officio members Gheorghe Duca, the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, and Mihail Formuzal, the incumbent Governor of Gagauzia.
