Topics related to good practices of cooperation between the legislature and civil society were discussed at an annual conference held in the Parliament’s assembly hall. The focus was on strengthening cooperation efforts to ensure a higher degree of transparency of the legislative process and accelerating the national goal of European integration of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
The event underlined the role of civil society in promoting and monitoring the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova, especially cooperation in the current screening process at the stage of negotiations on European integration.
"We see more efficient participation of stakeholders in the decision-making process in the legislative body. Obviously, there is still a lot of work to be done, including to improve our cooperation, but I think we will all agree that the dynamics are positive," said Deputy Speaker Doina German.
The head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova Janis Mazeiks said that the Parliament must be an open and transparent institution.
“We will continue to assist both the central and local public authorities as well as civil society in the Republic of Moldova in carrying out the necessary reforms to become a member state of the European community," said the head of the EU Delegation Janis Mazeiks.
The event involved officials, representatives of development partners, European experts and over 100 representatives of civil society.
In the context of strengthening the relations between the Parliament and civil society, the Platform for Dialogue and Civic Participation in the Parliament's decision-making process was created in 2023.
