Parliament delayed the approval of a document regarding setting free the two prisoners from Transnistria
The MP Vitalie Pavlicenco reiterated, during the session on Thursday the 29th of June, the proposal made a week ago that said that the Parliament should adopt a declaration regarding the not-full execution of the decision of the European Court for Human Rights concerning the „Ilascu” case and to submit a legal appeal to the Russian Federation, requesting its involvement in full application of the named decision regarding the setting free of the two prisoners.
The communists MP Sergiu Stati proposed the MPs to wait for the events that are tacking place at Strasbourg, where presently The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is acting and it is supposed that debates regarding this case will take place. “It would be wise to wait for Moldovan delegation to come back to Chisinau, to discuss with its members, afterwards to adopt a decision in this context in the Parliament.
The Romanian senator Ilie Ilascu, former prisoner of the unrecognized regime from Tiraspol, announced two weeks ago that he will request the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to withdraw Russia’s presidency statute of the Ministers Committee of the European Commission on the basis that it doesn’t undertake any actions for the setting free of the two prisoners.
The so called “Ilascu group” was arrested at the begging of June 1992 by force bodies of the unrecognized Transnistrian republic. The European Court for Human Rights convicted in 2004 the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova for this.
