Parliament could have one first deputy speaker and three deputy speakers

The Parliament of Moldova might have one first deputy speaker and three deputy speakers so that they represent every parliamentary group. The 53 members of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) voted for the inclusion of this item in the agenda, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dumitru Diacov, of the parliamentary group of the PDM, proposed following the example of Romania or Russia, where every group has by a representative in the Parliament’s administration. Vladimir Turcan, MP on behalf of the PCRM, said that he sees no logic in the proposal and suggested naming only two deputy speakers. “I believe you will reach an agreement inside the Alliance and will share the posts. Every parliamentary group will be represented in the Standing Bureau,” he said. “You should respect the political will of the parties. I think the decision passed by the Constitutional Court on September 8 is a good example,” said Vlad Filat, the chairman of the parliamentary group of the PLDM. The MPs took a 15-minute break to choose candidates for the posts. Moldova’s departing president Vladimir Voronin left the Palace of the Republic, where the sitting is taking place, and may not come back.
