Sergiu Ostaf was appointed as a member of the Integrity Council by the votes of 56 MPs on December 22, IPN reports.
Sergiu Ostaf was chosen at a public contest by the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities, at the suggestion of civil society.
According to the chairwoman of the legal commission Raisa Apolschii, Sergiu Ostaf will hold office for a five-year term and will be unable to apply for a consecutive term.
The other candidate chosen at the contest, Mircea Tanasov, didn’t’ appear at the interview. “As Mister Ostaf has all the documents in order, he was interviewed by the legal commission, which decided to propose him to Parliament,” stated Raisa Apolschii.
Sergiu Ostaf is the director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO).
