Parliament on Thursday confirmed a completely reshuffled Supervisory Board for the public broadcaster TeleRadio Moldova, IPN reports.
Journalist Arcadie Gherasim and ex-youth minister Sergiu Stanciu, nominated by the majority group, were confirmed with the vote of 81 MPs, and so was ex-education minister Corneliu Popovici, who was nominated by the opposition.
Four other members were nominated by civil society organizations: academician Aurelian Danilă got 75 votes in confirmation, ex-education Loretta Handrabura 80 votes, journalist Cristian Jardan 81 votes and journalist Irina Mațenco 79 votes.
Supervisory Board members are appointed for a single term of six years.
The reshuffle was made possible after the ruling party PAS changed the legislation to bring the public broadcaster back under Parliament’s control, after being placed in 2019 under the control of the Audiovisual Council. This entailed an automatic dismissal of Teleradio’s top executives and of its supervisory board.
