Parliament conducts campaign to promote reading

Moldova’s Parliament in February will carry out a campaign to promote reading. The legislative body’s library will open its doors to the visitors of the institution. The people will be informed about the library’s book collection and will talk about books and reading with MPs, IPN reports.

Starting with February 14, on the National Reading Day, the Parliament’s museum will host a thematic exhibition of books and monographs signed by MPs, ex-MPs and functionaries of Parliament. The books will be chosen from the Parliament’s book collection and personal collections of MPs and functionaries.

A public debate on reading that will involve MPs and people of culture will be held as part of the campaign. Those who want to visit the Parliament’s library and to take part in the staged activities can register here.

The National Reading Day is officially marked for the first time this year, on the birthday of great poet Grigore Vieru, following the adoption of a draft Parliament decision to this effect on March 31, 2022.

Under the Parliament decision, cultural, social and educational events will be staged to emphasize the importance of reading, primarily in forming the children and young people.
