By the statement on the situation in Transnistria, Parliament sanctioned the Russian military presence on the region’s territory, considers unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea. In the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, he said the provocations will not stop. On the contrary, they will be more intense and aimed at hindering Moldova’s European course. Other participants in the program disagreed, saying the document adopted by the legislature can bring the tensions in the region to an end, IPN reports.
Mihai Godea said the PCRM fooled those who are in power and showed them that they are spineless and mean. “They achieved this goal, tricking those from the parliamentary majority,” he stated. According to him, Parliament should have adopted not a statement, but a decision with definite measures.
In the same program, Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu said that at the start of the sitting, it was a more or less national draft statement, but later the text was changed. Moldova capitulated to Russia.
Communist lawmaker Artur Reshetnikov contradicted him, saying the Communist faction managed to convince Parliament to vote a statement that would stop the tensions in the Transnistrian region. According to him, the escalation of tensions is the result of the poor governance of the last three years.
Parliament on June 21 adopted a statement on the situation in the Transnistrian region. It says that the Transnistrian dispute should be solved by peaceful ways. The Liberals headed by Mihai Ghimpu, unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea and Igor Dodon’s Socialists didn’t vote for the statement.
