Parliament’s Standing Bureau has convened the MPs for an extraordinary session on August 16 and 17.
The Standing Bureau is convening Parliament on the request of Speaker Igor Grosu. On Wednesday, bills are to be debated in the standing commissions, and on Friday Parliament will assemble for a plenary meeting.
The draft agenda of the extraordinary session includes bills submitted by the Government to be examined as a matter of urgency. It also contains a number of various legislative initiatives tabled by lawmakers.
In particular, Parliament is expected to ratify the Grant Agreement with the World Bank, signed on August 9, 2023. Financial assistance worth $88.4 million, provided by the United States of America and Switzerland, is available until September 30, 2023. Also, the reform of the Restart Social Assistance System, which comes with amendments to 19 laws, will be approved in the second reading.
