About 1.08 billion lei will be earmarked next year for compensated medicines and medical devices, under the bill of the 2024 Mandatory Health Insurance Fund, approved by Parliament in the first reading on Thursday.
The bill provides for revenues and expenses of 15.4 billion lei. The Fund’s own revenues will constitute 8.4 billion lei, or 54.6%, and the remainder will be transferred from the state budget.
The monetary value of the mandatory health insurance policy remains unchanged at 12,636 lei. The percentage of deductions towards the mandatory health insurance policy also remains unchanged at 9% of an employer’s earnings.
The fund for the payment of medical and pharmaceutical services will be 15.1 billion lei in 2024, 8.9% more than last year. The largest part, or 7.7 billion lei, is intended for inpatient care.
70 million lei will go to cover costs for expensive medicines and consumables paid in addition to the treated case, and another 4.4 million lei for the medical services provided to refugees from Ukraine according to the partnership agreements concluded with the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Fund for Children.
The bill is to be examined in the second reading as well.
