Parliament annuls excise duties imposed on Transnistrian economic entities

The MPs on April 11 annulled the excise duties imposed on the Transnistrian economic entities that import goods, IPN reports.

After 2001, the Transnistrian companies registered in Moldova, which do not have fiscal relations with its budget system, hadn’t paid import duties and other excises. Last December, Parliament modified the budget-fiscal policy and reintroduced these taxes. Tiraspol reacted, saying they will return to the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format only when the excises are annulled.

“We speak about the Transnistrian companies that decided to register on the right bank of the Nistru. It is a gesture of good faith. They are obliged to pay taxes into the local budget of Transnistria. Given that we, as a state, cannot spare them from paying taxes there, why should we impose new taxes on them?” asked Veaceslav Ionita, who heads the commission on economy, budget and finance.

The lawmakers also voted to increase the excises on vehicles with engine with alternative spark-ignition piston and with the cylindrical capacity of over 3,000 cm3 and on vehicles with free-piston engine compressors and with the cylindrical capacity of over 2,500 from €2 to €3 per cm3.

The norm allowing the people to direct up to 2% of the income tax paid to the state to noncommercial organizations of public utility and to religious institutions was abrogated.

The MPs also reduced the fines for collecting money in the absence of cash registers from 10,000 lei to 7,000 lei, for not issuing receipt – from 7,000 to 5,000 lei, while for transporting passengers without tickets – from 7,000 lei to 3,000 lei.
