The MPs adopted the legislative program for implementing the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU for 2017 by a majority of votes on February 24, IPN reports.
Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said this document represents an extract from the three-year national plan agreed with the EU. The program contains 111 measures and specifies the responsible institutions and implementation deadlines.
“The legislative program for implementing the Association Agreement in 2017 enables to set the priorities and to better mobilize and organize,” stated Andrian Candu.
In the debates on the draft decision, the opposition pronounced against, asking that the vote should be postponed.
Socialist MP Vladimir Turcanu said the document was presented two days ago and there are a number of questions to it, while Communist MP Oxana Domenti formulated objections to the indicated time limits, which she considers detrimental to Moldova.
The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Tudor Deliu stated that this document is a desperate gesture by the authorities to have one more paper to wave before the foreign partners. Moldova already has a plan of action and the legislative program is nothing but a PR action.
Democratic MP Dumitru Diacov said this is a simple and clear document showing the Government’s actions and it is normal for the opposition to be against it. The program derives from Moldova’s commitments to the EU and its basis was laid in the joint meeting of the Government and Parliament, where any MP could make a contribution.
The draft decision takes effect when it is adopted.
