Parliament adopts 2013 State Budget adopted
Following a final reading on Thursday Parliament has adopted the 2013 State Budget, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Communist group opposed the inclusion of the Budget Bill in the order of the day, saying it hadn't yet seen the abstract of the Economy Commission on the proposals made on the Bill. “The abstract on the Bill was not discussed at the Commission's meeting. If you're honest as you claim, admit that you're seeing this abstract abstract for the first time and that it wasn't discussed at the meeting”, said Communist Zinaida Chistruga.
Communist Sergiu Sirbu remarked, among other objections, that he had proposed a 30% rise in student stipends and an increase in quotas of subsidized university places, but the proposals didn't make it to the final version of the Budget.
Unaffiliated MP Igor Dodon had proposed the minimum state-guaranteed salary to rise from 640 to 700 lei, but was neither endorsed by the governing Alliance nor by the opposition.
The Budget was adopted with the vote of 52 out of 101 MPs. Speaker Marian Lupu said that starting today state institutions had more than a month and a half to adjust their expenses and prepare several possible budgets for next year. The Speaker said that he couldn't be content with how the 2013 Budget turned out, but said that it was a realistic one and based on the situation in the country.
The 2013 State Budget provides for returns of 22.7 billion lei and spending of 23.6 billion lei, with a resulting deficit of 0.87 billion lei.
