Parliament abrogates decision whereby new elections were set for January 15

The lawmakers abrogated the decision by which new presidential elections were scheduled for January 15. Such a move was needed as the Constitutional Court invalidated the December 16 elections, arguing the confidentiality of the vote was not respected, Info-Prim Neo reports. Most of the MPs voted in favor of abrogating the decision. The special sitting for electing the head of state, which was to start at 2pm, was cancelled. The MPs came together for an extraordinary sitting on January 15, starting at 12 noon.
