The public association “Parlamentul 90” calls upon the lawmakers, regardless of their political orientation, to participate in the legislature’s special sitting of March 16, where the President of Moldova is to be elected, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press statement, the association says that the candidate for the presidency Nicolae Timofti meets all the conditions required for holding the post of head of state and, as he pledged, he will represent the interests of all the people, no matter what political sympathies they have. “We approve of the fact that this time the presidential candidate is supported by all the components of the ruling alliance and want to believe that the political class and Moldova in general will finally overcome the political crisis. We are sure that most of the country’s people want this,” reads the statement. “Parlamentul-90” is concerned about the fact that some political forces try to place obstacles or oppose the course to strengthening the civilized and veritable democracy and to Moldova’s prosperity. “Only if we have all the state power components, will we be able to implement the reforms in justice, the constitutional and electoral systems, the social and administrative infrastructure that have been awaited by the population during the last two decades. By electing the President, we will be able to convince our friends and supporters that we deserve forming part of the European family and will give an example to the generations to come,” says the statement. The special sitting of Moldova’s Parliament starts at 3pm.
