The deputy head of Public Transport and Communications Department (DGTPCC) within Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), Alexei Varlan, considered necessary to re-start as soon as possible of parking’s activity, which is a very necessary way to park for a short time of private cars. The activity of parking in the municipality Chisinau was forbidden in 2002, when the government, being announced by the resort institutions about the inappropriate activity of this type of parking of the private transport, cancelled the Regulation on parking activity, existent at that time. According to Varlan, the government explores now the provisions of the new regulation for the activity of the parking, drafted by DGTPCC. The new regulation proposes a more improved version of the activity of parking, which, even will not limit and will not have special places to collect taxes, will be guarded, enlighten and will not create obstacles for circulation of public transport and pedestrians, no green places will be created and at a distance of 30 metres of the apartment blocs. After approving the regulation of parking activity, DGTPCC will order the approval of a plan to place them in the municipality. But in the centre of the city, where the necessity is more urgent, such places that do not contradict the provisions of the new regulation in fact do not exist, Varlan also noted. DGTPCC deputy head considered necessary to approve as soon as possible the new regulation and in the context of fighting the cases of illegal parking, which even are sanctioned by a special commission within the mayoralty, continue to be organised sporadically in all areas of the city and create obstacles for the citizens. Till 2002, DGTPCC managed the activity of 30 parking lots. In municipality of Chisinau, there is collected annually in the budget about 1 million lei. Now in Chişinău 135 parking work legally, non-stop.
