Parents will no longer need to apply for allowances intended for families with children

Parents with young children will no longer have to apply for social welfare. Starting with this year, the allowances for children will be set automatically by the National House of Social Insurance, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said that more types of benefits will be granted proactively based on data from state information systems. These are the one-off childbirth allowance, the monthly benefit for raising twin children or more children born at once until the age of three and also the monthly child benefit paid up to the child’s age of two to all children, regardless of the status of the parent (insured/uninsured person).

Also, there will be no need to apply for the benefit paid until the child reaches the age of three, which is initially set for the entire period of 36 months, with the possibility of subsequently requesting the modify the option for a period of 12 months or 24 months.

The social allowances for children with disabilities will be provided without submitting an application. The state allowance will be granted automatically to the child’s mother based on information provided by the National Council for the Determination of Disability and Work Capacity and data provided by the Public Services Agency. If the minor is represented by a person other than the mother, the obligation to submit the application personally to the local social insurance office with confirmation documents will be kept.

Also from January 1, the one-off childbirth allowance will be 20,000 lei, up over 9,000 lei compared to last year.

The authorities estimate that this year, the new changes will benefit 33,000 mothers who will get a one-off childbirth allowance and over 114,000 children who will receive monthly benefits until the age of three or two.
