Parents say children at “Artico” Center dance amid mold

Artistic managers and parents accuse the administration of the National Children's Center “Artico” of unjustifiably transferring the children taking dancing classes to another hall where there are no training conditions as the ceiling and floor are damaged, there are no mirrors and there is mold everywhere. On the other hand, the Center's administration says the decision was taken in accordance with the recommendations of the Preventive Medicine Center as the old hall is not heated, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on Tuesday, Angelina Pavel, artistic manager of the group “Eos”, said the conditions in the building where the children have to practice are unacceptable. “We were told that such a decision was made in order not to endanger the children's health, but they force the children to dance in inhuman conditions,” Angelina Pavel said, adding the employees were warned they will be dismissed of they make this case public. Angelina Pavel said the Center's director Aurelia Hancu pursues personal goals as she forces the children to take part in the filming of ads. “We do not want shows. We want to promote dancing, not the interests of the administration,” she said. Igor Grigoriev, manager of the ensemble “Temperamento”, said his colleagues are blackmailed by the administration, but they do not dare to say it. The problems arose in the summer of 2009. Lilia Musteata, the mother of a 11-year-old child, said the parents invested money in repairing the old hall and outfitting it with mirrors. “They should not close that dancing hall. I do not want my child to go to the other building, were the conditions are inappropriate,” she said. Olga Budoretski, the mother of a girl aged 5, said she will not allow her child to attend another class. “We will demand that the problem be solved,” she stated. The Center's director Aurelia Hancu came to the conference to explain that the building where the dancing classes are given is not heated. Thus, they decided to transfer the children to another hall. All the documents were approved by the Preventive Medicine Center, she said. The dancing classes for about 100 children have been suspended.
