The prices of school supplies are high, but most of the parents are ready to spend as much money as needed in order to prepare their children for school. The notebooks, pens, pencils, files and rulers must definitely be in the student’s schoolbag, Info-Prim Neo reports. Maria Andriuta from Nisporeni came to Chisinau to make purchases in the hope that she will find a varied offer and reasonable prices. She is ready to spend 800 lei on supplies and the schoolbag. Angela Tataru from Straseni spent already 1,400 lei on school supplies for her two nieces, but has not bought all the necessary stuff. “The prices are high and empty the pockets very quickly, but we must buy everything the students need,” she said. The sellers complain the number of buyers is low, but voice hope the situation will change closer to September 1. “Most of the persons are surprised by the high prices, but we tell them that it is not our fault. Now, before the start of the school year, the sales are up, but during the year there are not many buyers,” said vendor Nina Cretu. “The largest part of the buyers acquire supplies that cost less. We do not earn much, but have no other way out. The sales yesterday totaled 1,800 lei, but today – not even 200 lei,” said seller Tatiana Buzu. The cheapest notebook costs 0.7 lei, while the most expensive one - 50 lei. The prices of schoolbags vary between 150 lei and 700 lei. The parents said this year they have to spend over 1,000 lei on supplies.
