The police established that the two-year-old girl from Causeni town, who was found on the street with hypothermia and signs of vaginal penetration in the morning of September 26, was left in the care of neighbors. Press officer of the General Police Inspectorate Sabina Cojusnean has told IPN that the girl’s mother has been in Chisinau for over two weeks.

On the eve, the neighbor took the girl to the house of her grandmother where there was the woman’s 61-year-old partner, his son aged 26 and another young man of 25 without a permanent place of residence.

The three drank alcoholic beverages together. They were placed under arrest for 72 hours at the remand center of the Causeni Police Inspectorate. The police are waiting for the results of the examination of the biological samples taken from the suspects.

The rapist faces 10 to 20 years in jail or life.
