Parents and teachers learn methods for socially integrating children with epilepsy
The Association for the Support of Children with Convulsive Syndrome has announced that the project “Equal Chances in Education for Children Suffering from Epilepsy” implemented during two years was completed. “We offer working models for rehabilitating and integrating the disabled persons into the society, for changing the community's attitude. The authorities should follow and multiply these models so as to produce a change in the society,” the Association's head Antonina Gavajuc said at a roundtable meeting held to close the project, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The project had 1,555 beneficiaries. Educators, teachers and parents took part in informative seminars. A mother said that before knowing the team of the Association for the Support of Children with Convulsive Syndrome, her child who suffers from epilepsy was isolated and she did not know whom to talk to about their problems. “When I participated in the training course, I realized I'm not the only one experiencing such problems,” she said, thanking the experts for the psychological assistance offered to her within the project.
The Association's specialists ascertained the children with disabilities became more confident after this project and want to change things to the better. The teachers became more cooperative and easier accept the children with epilepsy and other disabilities.
The project's partners are Star of Hope International Sweden and Star of Hope Romania. It was financed by Swedish Mission Council/Swedish International Development Agency and Star of Hope International Sweden.
