Parade of National Costume in central Chisinau

Folkloric groups from Moldova, Romania, Ukraine and Poland marched in the center of Chisinau dressed in national costumes in the evening of July 3. The Parade of the National Costume, which attracted dozens of admirers, is an event staged within the Festival “Bucovinean Meetings” and within the Festival “Stephan the Great”, IPN reports.

The folkloric groups came together in front of the Theater “Mihai Eminescu” and afterward walked singing along Stephan the Great Blvd, up to the Europe Square, where they gave a performance. The people who came to see the concert photographed them and danced near the stage.

“This event is aimed at promoting the folkloric traditions, national costumes and customs of these countries and is also a festival of friendship, socialization and, especially, of intercultural understanding in Europe,” said Viorica Oprea, director of the European Cultural Center “Dacia”, which organized the event.

The Festival “Bucovinean Meetings” continues on Saturday, July 4, with exceptional performances by singers, orchestras, dancing groups and folkloric ensembles from Moldova and other states in the Public Garden “Stephan the Great”. The Parade of the National Costume and exceptional performances will be also staged in Ialoveni town.
