The leader of the Liberal faction in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) Corneliu Pantea provided unaffiliated councilor Oleg Cernei with the code of the bank account to which he expects to be transferred the 33,000 lei that the court awarded him as damages. The court ruled that Oleg Cernei damaged the honor and professional dignity of Corneliu Pantea. Corneliu Pantea filed a lawsuit against Oleg Cernei three months ago after he accused him publicly of taking €7,000 bribe from a Chisinau family of teachers for a plot of land located on Calea Orheiului St. “I wanted to restore my image that was damaged by Oleg Cernei. He had neither the wit nor the courage to deny the assertions made earlier. I expected that Oleg Cernei will realize the mistake he made, but he didn't. The court's decision is a lesson for Cernei and all those who make groundless accusations,” said Corneliu Pantea. Asked what he will do with the money, the local councilor said he will give it to charity. “You should not worry how the money will be spent. The important thing is that the court decision be implemented,” he said. Oleg Cernei has not yet appealed the decision to a higher court and did not say if he intends to do so.
