Pandemic flu morbidity decreases
The antiviral drug Tamiflu arrived in Moldova from Switzerland. By November 20, it was distributed to 20 districts of the country, the vide director of the National Health Insurance House Iurie Osoianu announced at the meeting of the national extraordinary anti-epidemic commission on Friday evening, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The 200,000 dozes of Tamiflu arrived in Moldova on November 18. The storage and distribution plan was formulated by the Ministry of Health. According to Osoianu, the Transnistrian region will also receive Tamiflu drugs.
At the same meeting, Deputy Minister of Health Mihai Magdei said that 1,160 cases of pandemic influenza had been confirmed in Moldova by November 20. There were recorded 2,500 suspect cases. The virus killed eight persons.
“The pandemic flu morbidity during the first 15 days of November had been on the rise, but then started to decrease,” Magdei said.
Minister of Education Leonid Bujor informed that the students of the Theoretical High School “Mihai Eminescu” and of the Informatics College continue to stay at home. He said the Ministry of Education will make a decision as regards the resumption of classes on Saturday or Sunday. The Technical University of Moldova will open on Monday, November 23.
Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu said next week the Government will approve a plan of measures aimed at preventing the spread of pandemic flu during the next seasons - April and October 2010.
