Painting exhibition dedicated to Chisinau

Oil paintings on canvas that reproduce the atmosphere of the contemporary city of Chisinau, mainly in the colors of autumn, are exhibited at the Chisinau History Museum. Originally from Chisinau, the author of the works, Inga Edu, says that every corner in the city is close to her heart.

Inga Edu, member of the Union of Plastic Artists from Moldova and Romania, said: “I like to paint the old center. But in this exhibition, we presented the city that developed over several years. These huge buildings grew up. I want to show that our city is beautiful, despite the existing problems. I always try to see the glass half full”.

“Sometimes I paint a picture for several days, other times the work comes out very quickly.” Most of the paintings in the exhibition were prepared ahead of time.

Valeria Suruceanu, director of the Chisinau History Museum, said that the exhibition was the idea of the Museum’s administration. The artist had a large collection of works dedicated to Chisinau and was invited to hold an exhibition around the city’s Saint Patron’s Day.

One of the exhibited paintings was purchased for the Museum’s collection. “With this painting, we begin the collection of paintings dedicated to the city of Chisinau that reproduce the atmosphere and landscapes of the capital through the lens of visual artists,” said the director.

“The author of the exhibition is in love with Chisinau, because her brush and the warm colors that are displayed on canvas convey a very clear message of respect for our beloved city”, noted Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici.

The exhibition “My city on seven hills” is organized on the occasion of Chisinau’s Saint Patron’s Day on October 14, and will run until October 29.
