MP Mihai Godea, who heads the Democratic Action Party (PAD), said the Transnistrian region should be declared a zone of Russian military occupation. In a news conference, the lawmaker said he proposes for debates a set of legislative initiatives for settling the Transnistrian conflict and recovering Moldova’s dignity as a sovereign, independent and unitary state, IPN reports.
“Moldova’s eastern region that is under the control of the so-called Transnistrian regime should be declared a zone of Russian military occupation. Until at least a Russian soldier or piece of Russian armament is situated on our national territory, without the consent of Chisinau, this is named act of aggression in any part of the world. The ceasefire agreement was signed by the Presidents of Moldova and Russia. This shows between whom the conflict is and who occupied the eastern region of Moldova,” said Mihai Godea.
According to him, the economic possessions that belonged to the former MSSR, and consequently belong to the Republic of Moldova, cannot be sold by the unrecognized Transnistrian regime. The Transnistrian conflict settlement talks must be held only with the Kremlin administration, not with Tiraspol. The legislation should be amended so that the actions promoting separatism and encouraging anticonstitutional acts are punished severely. The occupied districts should benefit from representation on the right bank of the Nistru.
The MP also said that the state bodies, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Security and Information Service and the Ministry of the Interior should concertedly collect information and start a criminal case over the crimes committed by the separatists and Russian military men against the Moldova citizens. The case should be sent to court, while those condemned should be put on the wanted list.
Mihai Godea added that checkpoints should be set up on the administrative line set by the ceasefire agreement of 1992.
