The Democratic Action Party (PAD) requested President Nicolae Timofti to immediately convene the Supreme Security Council to discuss the situation in the Transnistrian region. The party considers that there is visible increasing aggression on the part of Russia and Tiraspol, IPN reports.

The de facto opening of a Russian consulate in Tiraspol, the visits of Russian diplomats and functionaries to the Transnistrian region, without the consent of the Moldovan central authorities, the military maneuvers, the increase in the number of Russian soldiers in the so-called peacekeeping forces are clear signs that the Russian authorities have a well-prepared agenda for strengthening their presence on the left side of the Nistru, the PAD says in a communiqué.

According to the PAD, the eastern districts of Moldova became a subject for populist debates in the State Duma. An intolerant and aggressive political current against Moldova emerges in the central policy of Moscow. ”We should not ignore the broader international picture, where Russia became a more aggressive player. Partidul solicită preşedintelui Parlamentului, Marian Lupu, să convoace Parlamentul Republicii Moldova în şedinţă specială, în care să fie invitaţi conducătorii instituţiilor responsabile de securitatea naţională.

PAD este reprezentant în Parlament de către liderul formaţiunii, deputatul neafiliat Mihai Godea.
