Packed audience at Ionica and his Dacia premiere

The premiere of the documentary “Ionica and his Dacia”, directed by Gheorghe Ciubuc, gathered a packed auditorium at Gaudeamus Cinema on Friday night. The director says he tried to bring before the audience the most precious values of the nation: dignity, beauty and history, Info-Prim Neo reports. The film was shot in the cultural reservation of Butuceni village, Orheiul Vechi. The protagonists are 10 year old Ionica and painter Ion Sfecla. Ionica is enjoying his childhood and has a hobby of making stone souvenirs- symbols of the past and his birthplace. Artist Ion Sfecla, attracted by the Butuceni landscape, is painting and Ionica learns the art from the master. Director Gheorghe Ciubuc, member of Filmmakers’ Union, said that he was in Butuceni a few years ago and bought a stone figure from the boy. He was impressed. “I looked at this souvenir after bringing it home and could not realize what was happening to me. I went back to Butuceni and understood I had to make a film. When I saw the boy, I knew I already had the film. This movie shows everything as real. We only watched the boy and the painter”, said the director. “The message of the film is our dignity, beauty and even history. These stones keep the memory of our ancestors”, added Gheorghe Ciubuc. The documentary “Ionica and his Dacia” was produced by Millenium III Association, written and directed by Gheorghe Ciubuc. The filming and editing was made by Valeriu Strungaru.
