PACE sends pre-election mission to Moldova
A delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will visit Moldova during October 25-28 ahead of the November legislative elections, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Moldovan Parliament.
The observation delegation is composed of the following Assembly Members: chief of delegation Indrek Saar (Estonia, Socialist Group), Andres Herkel (Estonia, European People's Party Group ), Jørgen Poulsen (Denmark, Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe ), Christopher Chope (United Kingdom, European Democratic Group).
During their stay in Moldova, the delegation members will hold meetings with acting President Mihai Ghimpu, the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration, of the parliamentary opposition and of the extra-parliamentary parties, as well as with the members of the Moldovan Parliament's delegation to PACE.
The delegation members will also participate in a meeting of the ad-hoc PACE Commission, attended by CoE's Special Representative to Moldova Birute Abraitiene, and in two roundtables with NGO representatives involved in electoral observation efforts and media representatives.
In addition, the delegation will hold separate meetings with OSCE Mission members, members of the Central Election Commission, the chairman of the Broadcasting Coordination Council Gheorghe Gorincioi, and with Constitutional Judges.
